Drawing a nude woman has been a favourite subject for most of the figurative painters. Pencil drawing is the basic source. Taking the help of this source, an artist would build a painting. The final painting can be in water colour or in oil. In present time even the acrylic paintings have got good recognition. Every artist would try showing the beauty of a female body from front side, as that would make the drawing more aesthetic and sensual. Though sensual would be the curves of a nude lady, her mood could be settled in…

Acrylic paint, when compared with other mediums like oil paint, is a fairly new addition to the world of painting. It has only been around since the 1950’s . Some of the wonderful benefits of using acrylic paints are their versatility, permanence and ease of use. These paints can be applied thickly as an impasto or in thin washes similar to watercolor. Acrylic paint does not yellow or harden with age like oils. Another reason artists love to work with acrylics is their fast drying time. Since acrylic…

Despite the many styles and movements in 20th century art, from Minimalism to Dada to Abstract Expressionism, the realistic portrayal of the subject always seemed to be hovering in the shadows, an ever-present constant in the history of art. And as the 21th century begins, Realism is set to move to the forefront once again. In this article we deal with the line drawing phase. We assume that we already have a gridded reference picture of the correct size at our disposal. Your reference image will often be too large for most printers to print in one piece. To get around this you could print the image in pieces on plain 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Step one consists of drawing a grid on your drawing paper identical to the one you drew on your reference image. To do this, use an F-pencil and draw lightly because this grid will need to be erased. With this gridded image in hand you can now start drawing the actual line drawing phase. There are many rewards associated…
