Finally My Time
Feedback from Victoria Wekamp
I have loved art since I was a small child. I was widowed with two small children at a young age (22) which forced me into the corporate world to support my family. Art became a hobby when I had time and attention to devote here and there. I am now retired and my kids are grown and I am trying to start the career I always dreamed of, to become an artist that can make a living on my art.
I think the “contemporary old master” is Paul Cezanne. He had an understanding of the way people 'see' and incorporated that deliberately into his paintings. He left 'gaps' for our eyes and brains to fill in.
My favourite artist is Gustave Courbet. I just love his style. He was a very gifted artist.
My main challenge in art is shadow, I tend to paint everything as though it is noon or overcast. I need to learn to use shadow more effectively. I love to paint and I want to feel competent instead of lost when I hit an area that is challenging me.
I was looking for quality art instruction. Yes, I have found it, this is a great site.

You should win a web art academy course. Though I really don’t know why you need one. You should be teaching!
These are beautiful pictures. I always love elephants and roses.
