It Started Because of a Dare

I have no formal training. I started later in life based on a bet or dare. I attended a little art show in the small town I lived in, that as organized by a self taught artist who was teaching others how to paint in watercolour. As I was admiring what I thought was good art at that time, the organizer/teacher came along and told me that I could also paint.

The conversation carried on and she said “I dare you to come for 3 evenings and I guarantee you will be painting after that.” I took up her challenge and 11 years later I have transitioned from watercolour to acrylics to currently in oils. Over those 11 years I have taken some workshops with Murray Phillips, Roger Arndt, Doug Swinton and Neil Patterson.

However the workshops with all but Doug Swinton have been sporadic and I need more continuity to advance my painting skills.
