My love story with the Art…
Feedback from Valentina
I am fascinated about nature’s transient beauty. In my work I am trying to internalize it. I like quick painting sessions, that last 2-3 hours, so called “ Alla Prima “ – a method of direct painting from nature. I love Plain Air sessions as well as still life with fresh flowers.
My affair with Art started in another country in a city of Art and Imagination, St.Petersburg, Russia. I entered the St.Petersburg University to pursue a Master Degree in Biophysics. However by the end of my study of Science, I became more and more fascinated with Art… The Art in Petersburg was everywhere. It was in great museums, such as Hermitage and Museum of Russian art, in the beautiful architecture of city and in the rebellious spirit of my artist friends. I began attending Evening classes at the famous Mukhin Institute of Art and Design…
I continued my science education in Seattle at UW, PhD program at the Biochemistry department. After earning my PhD degree I worked as a scientific researcher at several research labs in Seattle area.
However, by the year 2012 my unfinished dialog with art became very loud and I decided to continue it as a full time student at Mark O’Higgins atelier at Gage Academy of Art, Seattle, where I study for 2 years.
Currently I am freelance artist, working from nature and in my studio at Magnuson Park.
So as you can see I have sporadic education in art and love to learn classical approach to figure/portrait painting…
