Poor little lamb who has lost her way!

Feedback from Noelle O’Hanlon

I was never good at art but always interested in paintings and artists.

I first started to paint myself when I moved to a place where I knew no one. My job was challenging and for me painting represented something I did for myself and didn’t HAVE to be good at! – just do it and enjoy! Which is why I didn’t go to classes for a long time.

And when I did, the most important thing was having an inspirational teacher rather than someone who operated on the basis that this was good or bad, or even worse better! I have been lucky to have had some but inevitably they moved on and I find myself at a bit of a loss and losing direction though I keep going!

I think the “contemporary old master” is Cezanne- the way he gets volume with colour, he mixing the right amount and keeping it workable.

My main challenge in art is achieving the enduring richness of colour.
