Artistic Journey to the Old Masters
Feedback from Dora Origel
I began in the 70’s to enjoy art and learn to paint. But I wasn’t polished enough to understand it takes practice and diligence to be good at it. I mistakenly believed it was a talent bestowed on an artist. So I gave it up.
I am now 64yrs old and began my art journey again 2yrs ago.
I began with still life mainly flowers. One day I tried a Redoute painting and became fixated on the Old Masters. Since then I have become interested in portraits and how and why the Old Masters created such beautiful works and without the commercial products we have today. After searching several websites I found Web Art Academy.
I watched many youtube videos you uploaded and became convinced this was the instructions I had been looking for. I believe a new journey will begin with Natalie and Vladimir as my instructors. They are both so talented. I was amazed at their Old Masters techniques. With instructions from the website, practice and self evaluation I know I can become a skilled artist.
I think the “contemporary old master” is Joseph Sheppard. His works are gorgeous and he imitates the techniques and recipes as close as anyone can of the Old Masters.
My favorite artists are Bouguereau and Vermeer.
I want to know the layering techniques and how the Old Masters approached them and why. And to explore the high levels of artistry that the masters accomplished.
