I love working with colours

I am 26 years old this year and dabbled in drawing as a hobby for the past 5 years.
I have reached a point where I am stagnated by my technique and skill. I no longer just want to dabble; if I get good enough I want to become a traditional fine artist. As you can see from my drawings below, the style is very cartoonish. I want to challenge myself and paint the traditional way.

Currently, I am learning the basics from the Drawing Academy course, sketching every day in pencil in hopes to make my foundation strong. The pencil sketch below is what I have learnt from lesson 12 of the course: one point perspective. I am greatly benefitting from the course, learning invaluable basic art techniques that will serve as a foundation for quality work in the future.

For curiosity, I tried experimenting with oil paint but failed miserably. I have no knowledge in oil painting and have no idea how to blend in the colours together, let alone how to use some of the basic tools that come with oil painting.

Regardless, I love working with colour, and therefore my ultimate goal is to paint with oil paints without any restrictions. I want to paint so freely that I can paint whatever I conceptualize in my head. I would love to win this Web Art Academy membership so that I can use it to my full potential, achieving my goals.

I studied a politics related degree a few years back. I graduated and got a job in a related field but disliked it so much so that I began to question what I want to do in life. I never dared to plunge into the art world as it is very unfamiliar to me. But just a few months ago, it really dawned on me that if I don’t start this journey somewhere, I will definitely regret it in my later years for not even trying!
