My pursuit of Caravaggios light

My pursuit of Caravaggios light

Feedback from Magnus Forsberg

My name is Magnus and I’m originally from Sweden but have travelled a lot and am now living in the Canaries.

Art has been my primary interest since I was a young boy, ever since I first got a hold of a pencil really and I have been drawing ever since. Growing up pictures of Rembrandt made me curious of oil painting and I dreamed of one day pursue that as something more serious, even a career but it wasn’t until I saw ‘The Calling of St Matthew’ by Caravaggio that I felt a deep calling – that was what I wanted to do, depict that mesmerizing light and the sense of endless depth.

I started to paint but found it very hard, all the technical aspects were discouraging though I kept trying. I started looking for schools or courses but everything available was modernism or ‘ways to express yourself’. I was even told at times not to strive for such endeavor since it was a ‘forgotten art form’ that didn’t appeal to anyone anymore. Saddened I stopped painting for several years but later picked it up again only to once again succumb to a negative spiral.

Now in my forties, actually closer to fifty, I am more determined than ever to succeed. Navigating through the internet for solutions, I feel as if the answers are just around the corner but paying for classes is not really an option for me as I am currently struggling financially.

When I came upon the Web Art Academy it immediately caught my attention – finally the teachings I’ve been looking for, to learn the real craft, thoroughly.

I’ve always wanted to learn from a master the way it was done hundreds of years ago and I think this is as close as anyone can get. That is why I want to win the course you are offering.

Best Regards,
Magnus Forsberg
