We think we have made progress with DrawingAcademy, which really helped us very much, we have found in the course a lot of good lessons and precious books, we try to get to another level and cross the road to the secrets of painting, but we do not think we can get there soon without Webartacademy … 🙂

My favorite non-contemporary fine artist is Ivan Shishkin, he is the best painter of nature.

Manet’s Oil Painting Technique Manet’s Oil Painting Technique technique was not, in fact, radically innovative, but the context in which it was presented challenged established tradition. Manet responded to Couture’s attitude to rapid execution and to the ebauche, because it permitted an immediate response to the idea, the image growing under the brush and the immediate rendering of a moment of contemporary life. Whereas Couture would present in public only “finished” paintings, in which the initial statement had been modified, Manet. was prepared to regard ebauche methods as yielding the finished statement. Art Terms: Grisaille Grisaille is a term for painting executed entirely in monochrome or near-monochrome, usually in shades of grey. It is particularly used in large decorative schemes in imitation of sculpture. Many grisailles in fact include a slightly wider colour range, like the Andrea del Sarto fresco illustrated. Paintings executed in brown are sometimes referred to by the more specific term brunaille, and paintings executed in green are sometimes called verdaille. A grisaille may be executed for its own sake, as underpainting for an oil painting (in preparation for glazing layers of colour over it), or as a model for an engraver to work from. “Rubens and his school sometimes use monochrome techniques in sketching compositions for engravers.” Full…
