I’m currently working on the art of classical realism, this technique takes lots of work and time, but the results are incredibly amazing.
Using the 7-layer Flemish techniques of fine arts, which has passed the time test and is currently an unsurpassed sample of perfect art. This technique was used by Leonardo DaVinci, Van Eyck, Durero and Rubens.
I tried drawing when I was 8 but apparently no one noticed I was doing good. Maybe I tried a couple of times that age and then let it go although I remember a perfect copy of a portrait drawing from an encyclopedia. Never again did I try until last year (age 33).
None of my family or friends were interested or involved in arts so I was afraid of them making fun of me.
I secretly bought and tried a cheap oil starter set. I was thrilled and surprised. I did not show any of my works until I was sure I had done something good. It turned out that people liked them and encouraged me to go further. So here I am eager to learn and ordering a blank canvas before even finishing another. …
I was born into a family of painters. Both my mother and grandfather are painters, neither had formal training.
Growing up with the smell of oil and turpentine is one of my favorite memories. My mother painted professionally for different photo studios and I was fascinated with how she brought black and white photos to life-they were beautiful!
While I always considered myself an drawing artist I never had the confidence to paint or receive a formal education. …

I didn’t have time for painting because I was divorced and was talking care of my children, now I am in UK 4 or 5 months a year helping my daughter with my Autistic granddaughter and his 3 other children. …

Growing up in Puerto Rico I originally wanted to be a painter, but life events drove me to music and I ended up becoming a composer. I remember being frustrated by not being able to draw well and not having the appropriate guidance. Throughout my life the desire to paint has been always there, and a year ago I started to draw. I remember grabbing the pencil and being hesitant, thinking “I cannot do it…” Since I am a professional artist (music composer) I have the highest regard and respect for all art forms. So, I did not want to do something that would below acceptable standards (at least from my own point of view). …
Hi! I am Art Alferez. I am a Filipino painter, an artist, if I may, but I’m not an art student. I couldn’t afford being one. I started my oil painting hobby last year, 2015, and I must say it’s been a tough round, especially that I’ve been practicing Renaissance art.
I love art. I love realism ever since I was a kid.
I’m 24 now, and I am actually in the middle of preparing myself for the future, whether: a better artist (well, I’m kinda depressed about my being idle in our town lately because of the people’s modernity and no good competence to my category, I feel like an idiot trying to prove something in this very wrong place. …
I was trained mostly with alla prima techniques and I am older than many students so I scrape out a living as an artist both as a painter and as a graphic artist but my goal is to shift into replicating the quality in painting achieved by the old masters of the Renaissance.
I really want to learn how to produce the luminosity in skin tones and drapery that the old masters so wonderfully achieved. Also Leonardo’s sfumato.
As a perfectionist and my own worst critic I am willing to put in the extra time to achieve my artistic goals. …
I loved art as a child as most do, my parents started me in a local drawing class around 10 but was removed for unknown reasons but I still doodled with cartoons of sorts, in high school I continued art but had to leave due to a troubled home.
It was about 15 years after that when I picked art up again as an adult basically as a self-study student. I tried a mentorship under Michael Dumas (Canadian artist) and learned a lot, then I enrolled at Academy of Art University and quickly learned that I could not afford to complete it, so I just tried learning as I could from other artists when I could and researched art resources to help me along. …
