Feedback from Magnus Forsberg
My name is Magnus and I’m originally from Sweden but have travelled a lot and am now living in the Canaries.
Art has been my primary interest since I was a young boy, ever since I first got a hold of a pencil really and I have been drawing ever since. Growing up pictures of Rembrandt made me curious of oil painting and I dreamed of one day pursue that as something more serious, even a career but it wasn’t until I saw ‘The Calling of St Matthew’ by Caravaggio that I felt a deep calling – that was what I wanted to do, depict that mesmerizing light and the sense of endless depth.
I started to paint but found it very hard, all the technical aspects were discouraging though I kept trying. I started looking for schools or courses but everything available was modernism or ‘ways to express yourself’. …

I am an older art student who is making an effort to re-degree my career in Fine Arts. Fine Arts training is usable training not only in artistic endeavors but in mathematics, chemistry, biology and research. I am always looking for new materials, discovering old ways of creating my own materials and their uses. I plan to use my research and training as a tool for education in local communities and foreign countries to enrich the lives of others. …

I am now 56. I draw and paint my whole life. As a child I loved to be under the table and draw. I visited art-school but worked as a primary school teacher.
I had four children and there never seemed to be time to get really into art, although I was always making little drawings everywhere. …

Feedback from Asma Suleiman
My name is Asma.
I studied Graphic Design and working now as a freelancer on design and drawing in my free time.
Actually, art was a big dream in my life. After my graduation I didn’t find job for a several years. This was a frustrating and painful, but I was thinking always that it was a chance for me to achieve my real dreams. I started to learn drawing basics by myself. …

When you buy a sketchbook, you visualize your future drawings filling up its pages. Undoubtedly in your mind they are as beautifully executed as those fast, effortless sketches of the Masters. All you need is just a few virtuoso strokes to capture the essence of the character or an object. Or maybe, if you do everything more diligently and try a bit harder, you’ll create something similar to Michelangelo’s preparatory drawings for the Sistine Chapel.
Then reality hits. Your sketches somehow don’t look like Leonardo’s and Michelangelo’s. They are not even close to those living guys you follow on Instagram. Oh gosh, now your sketchbook looks ugly! There is nothing you can show to your friends!

I am 36 years old. I live in Turkey. I work in a bank works, a place that is not suitable for my soul at all. I live alone.
For now art is just my hobby. But I try to turn it into the main centre of my life and become a well known painter so that I can maybe plant some good images of life into the thoughts of people and make them happier.

Feedback from Brad Grace
Greetings. My name is Brad Grace. I am a 45 year old creative professional who lives in the Portland Oregon area. I am a father of one 9 years old boy, and husband to a beautiful loving wife.
I’ve always loved art and creative endeavors. As a youth (in the 1980’s) I loved drawing. So much so that I filled out one of those “Learn to Draw” tests from “Art Instruction Schools” (an art correspondence school in the US) and mailed it in. One day a rep from AIS called, set up an appointment with my dad, and came by our house to talk. He was very impressed with my sketches but alas, we were a low income family and my father wasn’t willing to pay for the instruction. So I missed that opportunity because of financial limitations. …

When I do something, I am really passionate about it. I like to create and learn new things but don’t have a creative career at the moment. I work in a hospital in an intensive care unit as a nursing assistant and am married with five children, two of whom have already moved out. Our family lives in an average sized Swedish town but we are originally from Hungary. Because of loving my own culture, language, literature and traditions I am able to do the same with others. It is inspiring to meet new people but I rarely take initiative to do it because of my shyness and introversion. On the other hand, I have a rich inner life and an analytical mind. My biggest interest is people: I am fascinated by the human body, the expressive faces and gestures, and understanding the interplay between body and soul. I like to have deep and long discussions with others. …
