Sandro Botticelli

Botticelli’s talent was soon recognized and by 1470 he had his own workshop. In 1472 he joined the local painters’ guild. He painted small religious works until 1474, when he received a commission to paint the monumental St. Sebastian for the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Florence. His work was in favor with members of the Medici clan, who were the ruling family of Florence, and in 1475 he painted the Adoration of the Magi in which he included portraits of some Medici family members. The Medicis commissioned many works from Botticelli, paying him handsomely. Sandro Botticelli was deeply influenced by the artists and intellectuals who surrounded Lorenzo di Medici and by their ideas, which aimed to bring together…

Web Art Academy course is very efficient and well crafted

Before the Web Art Academy course I was a self-taught artist. Since my childhood , I had a great passion for art and I always followed my passion and worked on my skills. I always loved to create distinguishing artistic works but as I worked on them I realised that art was an important part of my life and I wanted my passion to be pursued as my career. And the Web Art Academy was a good start for me. I really wanted to learn the historic artistic values and the old masters techniques to know the inward significance of art.

The Web Art Academy course is a full package to have all the glimpse of old masters artistic techniques. The course helped me to learn the origin of art and such artistic techniques which are just awesome, I actually din’t had so much knowledge about those techniques.I feel this course helped me to make the basics of my art grow more stronger. The course helped me to know the importance of various aspects like light and darkness which is really needed to provide a living portray to art. …

The Web Art Academy course ROCKS!

I have been painting oils now since I was a freshman in high school in 1974, so I have been at it for many years. Mostly self taught until college in the 80s. Unfortunately my college art professor was more of a modern painter and did not teach the techniques of the old masters. I have wanted to learn the old glazing techniques since then but was unable to find a suitable teacher. I had a great private class in photorealism in oils, but that was also alla-prima method.

Finally a little more than a year ago my twin brother sent me a link to The Web Art Academy’s courses. I took the course and have been very pleased with my latest work which I combine alla-prima with glazing techniques.

Catskill Artist Bob

I am a retired Illustrator, owning my own Advertising Agency for thirty years. I have taught Studio Painting at a local College for twenty years and given Plein Air Classes locally. I live in the Northern Catskills of New York – homes to both Thomas Cole and Frederick Church – with breathtaking Hudson River School Scenery.

I enrolled when I saw the depth of your techniques, including the traditional methods of the color glaze and underpaintings. At age twelve, I was fortunate enough to enroll in the Montclair Art Museum School and study with Michael Lenson, who was educated in Europe.

Painting is a free therapy

Painting is a free therapy

Portrait by Abdullah Alfalahi, Web Art Academy student

Warmest Greetings,

Before enrolling in the Web Art Academy course, I had considerable lack of understanding of oil painting techniques. So, I’m very pleased with this course! It helped me a lot to improve my drawing and painting skills.

In the Web Art Academy video lessons, I found so many necessary tips and useful information on how to paint in oils. Now, I’m able to organize my painting process with confidence and full understanding of painting methods such as underpainting, glazing, all prima and multi-layer approach. I’m still learning, and Web Art Academy is a great place to look for help.

Many thanks to Natalie Richy and Vladimir London for the great opportunity to study in the Web Art Academy course!

Ever since I was a child, I always loved creating art. Art brings me so much joy.

I’ve never attended an art class, so the Web Art Academy course was very helpful. I learned so much new about oil panting and drawing.

If you want to improve your painting and drawing skills, this course will be a great help. I recommend it to every art student!

I was afraid to paint portraits…

First I was afraid to paint portraits, although this chapter attracted me since I was little.

Now, whenever I have a little free time in my daily schedule I love to give life to my canvas by painting faces, facial expressions.
This is one important way for me to relax and I love the smile of joy on the faces that I am painting . …

How to paint thick, woolen fabrics in oil

How to paint thick, woolen fabrics in oil

A question from Farhad, Web Art Academy student

Hi Natalie,

I have been working on a painting for a few months now, as I only spend a few hours on weekends. It is actually my first painting done in multi layer technique. It is almost done except that I need to put some fine details on the fabric the man is wearing. It is a thick woolen fabric like the type used for men’s overcoat. What he is wearing has many folds which I have completed but need to know how to put these details.

There must be a way, technique to do that as I have seen ultra realistic paintings that show these detail, like wear and tear on a pair of jeans. I don’t want to go into that fine detail now but having some details on the folds adds more to the painting. Please let me know if you have any suggestion. …

Painting was and always will be an important part of my life

Feedback from CÁSSIO ANTUNES DE OLIVEIRA

I am an amateur painter but the painting is my job, and I’ve lived doing that for more than ten years.

My biggest challenge in painting is to reach a professional level, technically and commercially.

I would like to learn the basis and foundations of the academic painting, because the figurative painting is my passion. …
