I am 78 and retired. I have learnt painting when I was a child and youth. Now I have time but I don’t know how to do, as I have forgotten what I learnt so many years ago.
Art is not about a pretty picture. It is about having something to say and being able to say it well and powerful through excellent composition, right choice of color or no color, right choice of subject and being able to apply all of one’s faculties: emotion, intellect, force, psychological make-up, to dance with the mysteries and allow them to come up and not sabotage the moment. I love art since I was a child, but I only had the opportunity to study later in life. It was always my dream to study all the techniques and try to create in different mediums, but oil panting is my true passion. I wanted to excel somehow in figure painting and for doing this I need to learn the right techniques that would change my life forever. My name is Svetlana Djurdjevic, I was born in Serbia in Belgrade, 15 June 1969, I graduated from a school for massage therapists, in high school I had painting lessons I live now in USA Wilmington, and want to learn more about painting.
I sew my sister paint something and copied it, then I started painting airoplains with bombs on them that was when I was 6 or 7.
My main challenge in art is making the correct color.
I started to draw when my mom came home from a drawing class she was taking. I could see in her portfolio that she had a sketch of my sister and I. It triggered something inside that started my journey.
When I turned 17 a gallery accepted me to be an artist. I have been at this gallery ever sense. Its just I get commissions for paintings and I never got taught how to mix. I have been getting trained by a painter next store. I just hate to take her time. …
