I used to draw when I was a child but then I move towards science and then engineering. But passion about painting remains there and it is more interesting though I have the knowledge about famous artist and their work.
And now I think it might be the way to obtain peace in life.

I have had a love of painting since I was 5. I was a single mum with 2 children when I applied for a diploma in fine art and to my surprise I was accepted. I then went on to complete a BA in fine arts then education.
I paint for the love and challenge of trying to create what I see through my eyes. It gives me hours of pleasure and I often study great masters works while trying to grasp the style I want to communicate to the viewer. …

I started painting about three years ago. I’ve never visited art school, but somehow it always has fascinated me because when I was younger I’ve always seen my dad painting but in those years I wasn’t interested in the subject of painting.
I started in acrylics and in one year I did quite a lot in oils. The more I paint the more I want to know about how to do it like the famous painters.
My favourite artists are Rubens and Rembrandt. Not because of the subjects but the way they can bring the subjects alive through their paintings.

I’m 22. I live in Patagonia, Argentina. I’m a draftsman, cartoonist and poet.
My path to art begins each a day upon awakening, constant or inconstant, but each a day “present” in “contemplation”, contemplation of reality, of the environment.
I sincerely want to do what I like, what I love. …

I am a mail, 72 years old and drawing since about 1955 and painting started about 5 years later. During my studies (partly abroad) and later my (obliged) military service, I did only a few drawing and painting in my seldom spare times.
Over the years I took a various private lessons in select teams, workshops and did visits to the famous museums over the world, Netherlands of course, France, Belgium, UK, Italy, Spain and the USA. …

I was a gifted artist since I was real young. I was back then very fixed on teaching myself drawing techniques and was well advanced in drawing and painting. I even taught it at a private school but for 9 years I worked as a commercial artist and I came to a halt in my improving and venturing forth as a artist and when I left that industry, I was like a lost sheep and could not find my way. I couldn’t even take up the pencil for a long while. But my love and concentration and deep desire need to be rekindled. Slowly I began to dabble and return back to my roots of art. But some old habits die hard and the years I had to take shortcuts to get the job done really made me come down to brass tacks and realize that I need to skid to a halt and start over again. …

For me, my focus on art began at age seven after my dad passed away; it was therapeutic, enjoyable, yet difficult. I began by copying anime and cartoon characters, however they eventually lost their appeal. I started drawing realistically, sought improvement in art, but public school art teachers were simply no good. Most ignored my efforts, because I went off path from their teachings; and my current at teacher actually encourages drawing from pictures and focuses on improper teaching techniques for art. I, an art history lover, decided to take my education into my own hands and seek out proper methods for creating art.

Fame and money was never something I sought after with painting. It was always more about creating something personal and tangible that showed a part of me, or reflected a time in my life. Some people sing or play instruments, and I always found art to be a wonderful outlet and almost meditative in a way. I miss the mentality and confidence I had as a painter, and I find myself wanting to release the creative work I have in my mind without having to worry about the basics of painting nor the techniques themselves. Currently, I feel like I’m holding back on the canvas. I want to be able to wake up and paint, no holding back. …
