Never too old, never too late

Never too old, never too late

Feedback from Lorna Beecroft

I am a very late arrival to painting, having started just prior to Christmas in 2015 at the ripe age of 62.

A dear friend and fabulous artist whom I have always admired said to me, “all it takes is practice.” I thought that could not possible be true, but as I had loved drawing when I was very young, I thought I would give it a go.

Well, it turns out that I can paint, and that hours of daily practice have improved by skill vastly from a year ago. …

In art school I learned to throw paint on surfaces to create what we felt

In art school I learned to throw paint on surfaces to create what we felt

Feedback from Sharon Lorraine Barley

I am a pastor, poet, and writer. Early in my life I attended art school and never learned how to paint, just learned to throw paint on surfaces to create what we felt! My inner passion was to a more disciplined approach and learn the techniques of the masters. I graduated to become a graphic artist, like many of my peers. Slowly, the death of art in my soul, my passion for art waned as I sold images for purposes that conflicted with my values. I want to return to learning and study art as it was meant to be studied. …

When I paint I feel the flow

When I paint I feel the flow

Feedback from Senja

I’m a middle-aged woman from Finland. In my young age I learned a bit of drawing and painting. Then it was left and I had to work.

Since then I always knew that when I’m old enough, something more than 50 years, I’ll continue painting again.

I had to live first, to acquire life experience, pass the time of uncertainty, and then when you have settled down, it would be an appropriate time to start a life with true love – the art of painting.

I am a very sensitive and creative person. I have a great need to do something creative that I can focus on. When I concentrate on painting or other creative activities, everything else disappears and I feel the flow.

Art from Heart

Art from Heart

Feedback from Eima

I’m just a child. Inspired by how art can be like magic. Art tells a story, a message that cannot be simply put with words. Art connects people in a way. Reaching their hearts, conveying a meaningful message.

If I can create that magic that is called art, tell a story with a drawing that reaches one’s heart in a single glance. I’d want to express myself and let everyone see how I look at this world. I want to let everyone see the series of imagination that I’ve build up in my brain.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen and go paint something!

Feedback from (paste name here)

I am a professional (traditional) cook, born 1961 and raised in Belgium, now living in a rural part of Hungary and unemployed. Some people in my family painted oils and watercolors, so I guess that influenced me as a boy. My parents gave me the choice what to study, art school or hotel school. Wish I could have chosen both…:)

I’ve tried out airbrush when I was in my twenties, but my affection is always drawn to the masterpieces of the Renaissance as well as the surrealist Dali’s work. It seemed difficult to find good video lessons on the internet on these techniques until today 🙂 …

The Missing Puzzle Piece of my Soul

The Missing Puzzle Piece of my Soul

Feedback from Jeanett Flynn

Since retiring I have had two main focuses in my life – my family (especially my six wonderful grand children, plus a new little one on the way), and art.

Over the past few years my artistic tool of choice has been my camera. I have spent much time learning all I can to become a better photographer. I really love it, but I have also felt like something is seriously missing. There has been a piece of the creative puzzle of my soul that has been missing and makes me feel not quite whole. I yearn to fill that missing piece in. I yearn to feel whole again. The creative spirit in me is calling. It is saying “don’t give up”. I need to pursue art in a way beyond photography. …

My way in art

My way in art

Hello!
My name is Nick, I am 24 yo, I live in Moscow, Russia.

I’m a self-taught amateur painter. I did not receive a special art training. My financial possibilities would not let me go to the Academy of Painting in Moscow.
In Russia you can get a free college education just once, the second education costs a lot of money. I began working in the field of trade and private workshops seeking to gain the skills of academic drawing and academic painting. But the Russian school of painting has deteriorated and become little resemblance to my favourite works. …

We all want to leave our mark on the world

We all want to leave our mark on the world

Feedback from Jessica Dosseh

I have to say I’ve always loved art and it has always been a big part of my life.

At some point in my life, someone asked me, “What type of artist are you?” At that time I didn’t know. Determining who you are and where you belong is one of the most challenging things in life.

All I want is to learn and to keep on learning so one day my art may have an impact on someone else’s life no matter how small.

The Gift of Genetics

The Gift of Genetics

Feedback from Nancy Quin

My great aunt was a very successful artist and teacher in Mississippi, Marie A. Hull. As we visited Jackson often from Dallas, she was often teaching and allowed me to join in. The simple realization of how exceptional she became continues to drive me to grow as an artist.

Discipline, education and hard work prevailed in her example to artist. “You can not successfully break the rules until you know them all”. With this determination to take art seriously, really learn to see with detail, and sketch till you fall asleep, I hope to continue to know the growth and the achievement with the limited years I have ahead. …

Its all about the beauty of love

Its all about the beauty of love

Feedback from Lis Engel

Art has always been my greatest passion and interest. I started to paint with oils when I was 12 year old, because an gallery owner at Bornholm (small Danish Island) liked my drawings and pastel paintings. He showed the basics of oil painting and from then I was completely dedicated that that was what I wanted to do.

But my family was poor and did not want me to go to art academy fearing that it would not be an education that would be able to support me in a secure way.
