Feedback from Patricia Claire
I graduated from the Art institute of Seattle and have been working primarily in charcoal and oil paints for 15 years now.
I would like to learn more on layering and fine tuning skills with oils.
My favorite artists are Picasso, Degas and Monet.

I am an Illustrator by trade but have resorted to any odd job that can pay my bills. The number of things that I have done to support myself is mind boggling and humbling for what I have had to incur and I am still trying to break out with my art, I am currently a caregiver. I can adapt to practically any situation and do it well. I have inventions on the table and a desire to create masterpieces. I’m a published poet and artist. “The Purpose of Poetry, JFK’s Prologue, A Book of Poetry by Matthew Phillips” I have images that could provide me with a residual income, but had poor schooling and need proper direction. I am a very skilled draftsman. …

What the Old Masters knew about Anatomy Laocoon and the Apollo Belvedere – nothing had ever been seen to equal the honours with which these statues were surrounded. Brought out of the earth, they were transported through the towns and escorted by a stately cortege to the places they were to occupy in the palaces of the Pope or the Duke. The court of Lorenzo the Magnificent, at Florence, Brought together a great many of the humanists and artists of the time and from their daily contact a revival of Greek Culture took place. Artists began to perceive, that the Grecian sculptures possessed an even deeper significance than they had heretofore found in them. They saw that these works represented…

Artwork and review from Susan Godden, Web Art Academy graduate. Dear Web Art Academy Team. My art skills prior to your Fine Art Course, were achieved by attending different schools and courses, never quite knowing if the information I received was correct. The reason I enrolled with the Web Art Academy was because I wanted to understand how the old Masters worked, and I wanted a classical education. Also I liked Natalie’s way of painting and the way of teaching on the videos. The course is not boring and with good instruction, so you can develop in your own way. I have learned so much from the Web Art Academy. I used to smudge all my drawings, also made shinny…

Fine Art Tip from Snezhana Tillender
Sometimes, I am impatient to continue my oil paintings, but paint is still wet. The best way to dry oil paints is to expose an artwork to direct sunshine for a few hours.
Sun won’t damage paint layers, but will help to speed up drying time. This is how Rubens did it. He mentioned that in his letter to his commissioner.
Never dry your painting in a dump dark place, because colors might become muddy and paint will dry more slowly.
Your website looks professional! I am an landscape artist, but always dreamed to study from professional figurative artists. …

Fine Art Tip from Andy Tseng
If you want a blue sky or draperies do not turn greenish over time, you should know what medium to use. Linseed oil has tendency to yellow. Walnut oil yellows less and blue colors will alter slightly.
However, walnut oil has it’s downsides like cracking, so it should be used only in such color-sensitive places as blues and whites. In other places it’s better to use linseed oil.
The Web Art Academy course gives incredible content. I am already a first month member, but would like to win the whole course…

Rembrandt, who is thought to have learned from Jacob van Swanenburgh and Pieter Lastmann, no doubt took stylistic cues from the Flemish Technique, the Venetian Technique, and the Direct Painting Technique. When observing his work, one can see that he experimented freely with them, moving between them, but he most certainly employed them all. Over time, as he learned each method, he incorporated aspects from all into a his style—while, of course, adding innovations of his own. Some of his paintings utilize wood as a canvas, as was common with the Flemish Technique, which he appears to have used predominantly in those works. In addition to this, a few of his small studies on wood panels seem to have utilized…

Feedback from Barbara
I have a masters in mixed media sculpture from a school in the 80s that taught creativity is more important than technique. I did not study drawing or painting and am pursuing that now.
I do not have much space in my apartment to use for painting, drawing, etc. and have to constantly switch things around (set up, close down each session or to move from one to another). I also have no way to hang work around to review or dream from. Odors are also a big problem as I sleep in my work area. It’s crowded and not ideal, but I am determined to not make excuses and continue my studies.
